Jinx is thee... BLACK HEART, FREE SPIRIT, ETERNAL INFLUENCE

BLACK HEART, FREE SPIRIT, ETERNAL INFLUENCE - I made this NE'RE-DO-U-WELL MAGIC MOJO BOTTLE for thee Jinx Dawson of the original metal band COVEN... jinx helped gave birth to heavy metal and definitely preceded and heavily influenced bands like black sabbath. She was the first to give the horns up metal sign that ronnie james dio takes credit for... jinx truly lit metal with the black flame she hold so high to this day.

this bottle was created after jink and I had an online discussion regarding the legalities of finding and keeping a bald eagle feather... I found out she had a heart attack and felt compelled to make and send something charged with healing powers and loving thoughts.

the NE'RE-DO-U-WELL MAGIC MOJO BOTTLE is made using 'the clay' a brass vase and a glass bottle... I also included items inside the bottle that represent, strength and endurance... some of the items inside the bottle include a bulls tooth, sand from my shoe, threads of a rope from a ship wreck, a piece of whale bone and other secret ingredients that only jinx and I know of.

jinx, your influence and spirt are eternal - stay strong doll.

my very own che chili...

my very own che chili...

Che Chili - If snickers helps you work, rest and play then Che Chili will help you work, resist and slay.

Zest and juice of 1&1/2 lime
1 28-can diced tomatoes
4 15-ounce cans black beans, rinsed and drained (or 6 cups freshly cooked)

3. Add the tomatoes, black beans, jalapeno, lime juice, cumin, chili powder, black pepper and cocoa, bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 10 minutes.

4. Serve over brown rice, if desired, with lime wedges and cilantro, or with corn bread, biscuits, or taco chips alongside.

5. meat lovers like me - do yourself a favor, pull out the crock pot and make you some pulled pork... or fry up some chorizo and add it to the individual servings.

we have a sprout of true hope.

a sprout from a seed, from a tree that survived the atomic bombing in Hiroshima... for me, it gives true hope that no matter how ignorant or vile 'we the people' act... LIFE can overcome.

if you're not familiar with the tree project, where I received the seeds of hope... please check the link here: http://treeproject.blogspot.com/

I strongly suggest you try to obtain some seeds from the tree project, it's fun, fulfilling and is a great conversation starter to say the least... it really has me interested in growing plants that I can leave behind rather than smoke.

here's some pictures of my wife with said seeds... and the sprouts of true hope.

anti-social media, the forgotten zip codes and sxsw

a reason or reasons to vote for us to speak @ SXSW:

well, for one thing, we'd be the only mutha fuckas representing the forgotten zip codes, anti-social media, and the creative culture that truly drives technology.

we ask that you vote for us thru the sxsw panel picker, a direct link is provided below, or search the bugbee name after hitting the INTERACTIVE FESTIVAL PROGRAMMING PROPOSALS link.

our aim is to bring the entrepreneurial spirit of the true creative, to a world of squares, content with cubical livin and ikea spending sprees... our target is the suits who try to use social media as another sell you something hustle, continuing to clog it up with old world marketing, forgetting that 'social media' is all about the free exchange of ideas... a place where folks can get together and communicate, open and honestly... without so many middle men and restrictions.

'social media' is also a world of opportunity and adventure... something we found out first hand as we spent a year on the road with nothing but craigs list, some social media outlets, and determination... staying with strangers, seeing the sights and living life... we also posted close to 150 short videos, hundreds of photos, blog entries, and podcasts, ultimately resulting in a upcoming book and documentary film.

our sxsw panel idea is an extension of an article amy did for chris pirillo here:
http://chris.pirillo.com/how-to-take-a-year-off-and-travel-the-country-for-only-180-using-social-media/

please vote here:
http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/ideas/view/4441

and it's all based on our year long road trip documented in part here: http://www.ayearatthewheel.com

being more greedy kills the skull and the bones 322

made from the bones of an entire deer, a dog skull found on the beach, a broken and fake chupacabra hand, beads, Chinese coins, a deer figurine, a porcelain angel figurine, a broken dinner plate and assorted bones from smaller animals.

this is 12" tall and aprox 13" in diameter.

started in roseburg oregon and completed on the beach, seaview washington.
I used the bones because it's what was available... it's what I found on my walks... like the drift wood I used in earlier pieces.

being more greedy is a concept I'll be explaining in full for an upcoming book we're putting out... the book revolves around our year long road trip. ( http://www.ayearatthewheel.com ) let's just say, to be more greedy, some times you have to sacrifice and or go beyond doing the 'right' thing to make the pendulum swing YOUR way... and in the microwave, micro blog culture in which we live, sacrifice seems a dirty word, or at least something to avoid at all cost... give up the bigger goal for a bunch of smaller ones, ones you can get on sale at wal-mart... give up meaningful for meaning less.

jake the alligator man and me...

some of the pin-up contestents.

burlesque by day...

great burlesque I might add.

burlesque by night.

the gal with the smile, she's the 'official' winner of the pin-up contest.

Britney the riveter - she's our winner.

Josh & Britney pushed me to show up, even offering their trunk for my stuff.

this is the front of the winning trophy I gave them.

and this is the back... I'll add more pics later.

my stuff in the truck... was offered $1000. for one of them.

shocked I was offered that, even more shocked I turned them down.

Cheyenne's favorite burlesque gal, no joke she watched her entire set and even made eye contact with the gal.

the fella responsible for the 'stunt' jake who, btw, was the only jake to show.

it's good to make friends with big guys who know how to fight... you never know when you might need a 'favor'.

jake's birthday party was a blast... made some new friends, showed the stuff I've been making... it, the stuff, received a great and unexpected response, the burlesque was great, and I'm very finicky about about that kinda thing... I especially dug the one light bulb, dimly lit performance... it was like going back to the times of the original burlesque, dark, seedy, under the big top - good times.

as far as the jake the alligator man pin-up contest - our winner is Brittney Hickman and all of the local, non-pro models... I've given Brittney & Josh their very own jake award.

bummed the movie was canceled due to rain... the weather here is unpredictable and it rains a hell of alot so I'm not sure how they'll ever do a drive in, out door film if it's contingent on the weather... but what do I know.

Amy, Cheyenne and myself had a great time all in all... it was fun drinking some beers and watching a great burlesque troupe and a couple of rockin good bands... and for me, it's always nice when folks, especially hot gals tell me I did good or that they like what I 'do'... so thanx to Jake for having me and letting me show my wares.

find out more about jake and his events here: http://www.myspace.com/jakethealligator

and on an entirely different subject, but inspired thruout my picture takin time at jake's b-day party... it doesn't make you a photographer because you have a big lens and a nice camera, it makes you a camera owner.... next time you interrupt my shot, stand over my shoulder as I pose a shot or in general get in my way, I'm going to shit on your fuckin shoe... be considerate or die, or better yet, strive to be more than the owner of a camera and maybe take at least one decent photo in your life.

rose bowl 13

made from bones I found along the roadside in roseburg, oregon, 'the clay' and a smashed patriotic bowl and some hand made dave archer beads.

the bowl is 13" in diameter and aprox 6.5" tall

quite literally the entire bttm of the bowl is bones covered with 'the clay'... like skin hung over bones. wish I had pics of it in the early stages, before so much of the bones were covered... I do have video, someday I just might post.

I started the bowl in roeseburg, or. and I finished it in seaview, wa.

you might be able to tell by the 'markings' in 'the clay' that it was finished on the beach... I guess I'm telling youz about the locations and stuff cuz I heard once that paintings and sculptures were a form of documentation, and I wasn't sure I could always agree with that - I think I'm starting to get it, maybe not... but it's worth a try, no?
